This is the last group travel day. Our guide took us to two places today....one the floating village and the other an artisan school. The first was about as raw and experience as you could have. In some ways, it reminded me of when I was child and people would come to Hiawatha to see "Indians". What was so funny then, the natives would tell me to go forward to get my picture taken... just think of all the white skin that have photos of me.
The floating village was a collection of Vietnamese folk living on about $260 a year.. and living in small crowded hubbles that contained a toilet that was a direct exit to the water, which is where they got their drinking water and bathed and fished. The folk that live on the land must leave during the rain season and move to the hills...but that is also an opportunity to work in the rice fields and secure the income. When someone dies during the rainy season, there is no real land and the folks put the dead person in a plastic bag and hang them from tree until there is dry land and a place to bury. lordy... The artist place (where I dropped some $) is for folks that are 18-25 and who don't have education. Some of the people are deaf/blind... the quality of the craft is exceptional . Well there is a line up.. so more later... bonus

I think Al Gore invented the internet quicker than I figured out how to "comment" and communicate with you BUT, hear I am! I know that Sasha relayed news of my safe homecoming - some stories there but ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL:) I'm having same sleep deprevation problems exascerbated by jet lag but family are all very, very happy to see me. Good thing for my phothos and your blog or I would be certain I dreamed the last 3 unbelievably wonderful weeks. I LOVE YOUR BLOG! I miss the non-stop laughing and just about everything except worrying about the toilets. By now perhaps you are at cooking school and eating a Bonny version of papaya salad. Cambodia sounds difficult but amazingly eyeopening. Anxious for your next entry and a little vacarious living.
your friend, Sheila
