Ok...did I live? I did very well
considering I just had the crowns of six teeth drilled and hammered
off and then a root canal on the top back... so I will end up with
six crowns, three root canals, two posts and maybe a new partial.
The procedure took 3 hrs...but there were several things about the
procedure that are different.; During the cleaning they put a cover
over my face so that only a hole around my teeth is open. The cleaner
is the one that determines what is happening to the teach. I can see
she has an MS in gum work...and my cleaner is a woman diplomat
whatever that means. She had great teeth and smile..Today, Dr Lek (
I felt good about that name) started and of course give Novocaine
..three shots for the crown removal and another for the root canal.
After I can't feel my mouth... they start with a block in back of the
mouth and tell me to bite down and it was so foreign to me..and
challenged my sense of lack of control and I was also trying to
breath- I had a moment of panic until I c could get my mind around it
all.. ...and I had to settle myself and pretend that I could only
breath from my nose. After I relaxed it became easy just to let the
water be in my mouth until it was suctioned and I started meditating
with a 10 count. My crowns had become fond of me and it took some
pushing and prodding and hammering etc.. and I just counted. Until 2
hrs later.. I was without 6 crowns.. and with it two teeth. The root
canal Dr was a woman and after shot # 3 she put a Vaseline on my lips
a small towel on my mouth and some type of spring thing in the back
of my mouth to keep the mouth open. It was not uncomfortable so I
just went back to the counting. There was a process of drill, x-ray,
drill that went on three times... and then finally all of that was
over... they popped in two temporary crown sets and my bridge and I
was done for the day. I got the new estimate..and for 6 crowns,
three root canals, two posts and a new bridge.. it will be about
4500. I think it is necessary..so it will be done. They also gave me
pain meds.. but quickly took them back when they checked my
records... I wrote allergic to morphine.. so they gave me extra
strength Tylenol and I was on my drooling way. I walked to the Jok
place ...about a mile and let the wonderful mushed rice soup with egg
and some buns comfort me. My laundry was ready and a weeks worth all
folded and ironed was about $2... happy body...that and a hot
shower...mmmm simple things equal great pleasure. I have slept on
and off since 3:30 and it is now 7...so off for some soft veggie
quesadia and the book store. While I have slept, I still feel like I
had a minor accident and since I am learning to check into the body
..it is saying.. this is not the night to walk to the night market.
