umbrella festival 1

I don't think there is anything as exciting as a comunity festival in a small town.  While you know you are in Asia, there is a feel of Kansas.  It is a poor town about 9K from Chaingmai...you go over the Thapae bridge and just keep going down 1006.  The day started with acu...and then I found I did not have a card in the camera so I went back and then as I was getting going out of town, I found I did not have my map. I went back the first time for the chip but the second time... i am helping Nancy Chandler retire.  When I got to town the roads were closed since the parade was underway.  I just know sometimes that if I go this way or that...it will come out fine. So I took a road off the main highway... and wiggled and jiggled until i was at a soi running into the parade.
The parade was very pretty young women on bikes with parasalls...blue had blue sashes etc..Then there was the festive dancing with hair ornaments and make up....these kids are good.

Since this is the umbrella factory.... this is the hand making of umbellas.  As you can see...all piece meal...

OMG - such gorgeous colors!!! Love it. A great little event to have stumbled upon! Also reminds me how beautiful the Thai women are - such lovely and expressive faces.

Eleventh Day

Wow, it is easy to slip into a similar pattern to what I had at home. I produced a plan to change many things - delete more emails, eat hea...
