Fri later in the day

I took this pic for the "boys" This vintage mercedies was in a garage behind a building behind a Wat... I do travel the unfamiliar. It appears to have a current liscence plate number, but I don't think it is driven much.

I took a pic of this very heafty pug to send along for Boggie. There are very few dogs that bark in all of thai land.. if they are running after chickens.. or someone is trying to get their food... otherwise.. they sleep. - (I know it is much fatter than Boggie.. it is the thought that counts... )

It is hard for me to believe that I have only walked 3 miles since my morning blog.. I am cooking.. in the 90's.. I walked to four Wat's today and was stopped by three groups of high school students on a quest to ask questions of english speaking folks... they were very cute. Each Thai child has a big name.... like Bonita Helen Marie.. and a short name Bonz... which may or may not connect to the other name.. some were funny. They asked me what I know in Thai.. well good morning - thank you - no and beautiful. What else do you need to know. Anyway.. I saw some different things today. At one Wat they were putting cups of water in a little container and them using a pully to drag it up to the top of a stupa... when it got there.. the container dumped the water and they pulled it down.. and then said a prayer.. I have seen folks pour water on a buddha.. but never a building. I actually walked to the other side of town to see what my room would look and it was a good thing. Since my life is changing and I am taking the train on Sat.. I will be in ChiangMai Thurs & Fri night and on the train Sat. There is no room at my Red Hibiscus.. so.. I have book a room near Angels and the internet. For those of you who have been here. This is very close to the gate where we left the songtaw and went to the Sunday market. It will save me much walking for the internet. I don't think it will be a probable in Laos... but if so, I can catch up on my blogging. Tonight we will eat in the night market.. watch the free dancing and drink beer. all but beth and I and 4 others will leave tomorrow. To be truthful.. I don't know last names... I think I will get the last name of a few.

note: this place is run by an Indian family..they know how to market.. great ice coffee.. and terrific oatmeal cookies.. .. you are writing home.. thinking of home.. nice cookie (which I have just ordered to go with my very nice ice mocha latte...mmmm).. smart. And speaking of cookies.. I past a very large cooke store. by the way, when we went from the next to Chiang Mai.. we got water and cookies... mmmmm

There was a place yesterday that was doing laundry.. it was way over in the middle of no place and they had these hats out with the clothes. I assume they were washing their hats... fun shot.

I have taken a series of flowers, people sleeping, shop keepers working at their job, and feet. Not sure about any of it.. but when I see an interetest shot.. I try for it. If I were a rich person.. I would have two cameras. I am tried out switching lens... oh well A. Adams started out like this... The orchids were at the market yesterday. I have several of them in different colors and shapes. I don't remember at this time if I mentioned that I bought another 2 gig for my pictures. It is adictive. I know I am in trouble when I am taking pics in the toilet. By the way.. I am terribly sorry to say...very few squats.. and in fact the Wat's. ..particularly the big ones.. have beautiful luv...you take your shoes off and put on slippers.. and there is flowers on the sick.. makes me just want to go in...

Since I am taking pics of shoes.. this is a pic of my little stash outside a Wat.. it is good not to wear your hat...point your toes to the buddha... have bear arms.....take pics rudely... put your head above the buddha.. the bare arms appear to be a very hard thing for the young am. to understand. oh well.. And the really drunk are boys under 20.

I almost had to use my insurance money they other day... there was a piece of sidewalk missing. this grid is about a foot square and as you can see, you can easily the my little toe could get in the slot. This was not my piece of missing earth.. but it is close enough to the frightening place that I was. If Anne were not in front..and she was a "big strong woman"... I would have been in the hospital.

Of course this is for Martina.. cook a doodle do.... This was at one of the Wat's.. he was defending his hens..

Just as I was taking the picture of the hen.. here came two young monks with their car crying.. not sure that the cat was in trouble since they are smiling but they were very gentle with the kitty.

Just so you know I have not given up my pineapple for the oatmeal cookies.. (my mother's favorite).. I hope you can see the wonderful deep yellow color in the center.. it is the sweetest.. second only to the orange juice. I took a series of this.. also .....

Tonight is the last night for many.. I think I mentioned Misty (the look like Beth pic from yesterday) Betsy.. the one that lost her contacts... Cindy... the one from Tx.. and Ashley and I and Beth will be here Sat. So we will be off to dinner at 7.. might try a facial.. or not.........still feel transparent from yesterday.. love to all...

I've said it before, but I must repeat. Your photographic composition is incredible. You've got a great eye. Loved the picture of the hats !!!!
