Reflections
It is 1:30 in the am and I have a half hour before the band stops playing. I could not locate my Ipod with only a flashlight and my ear and head are in such a state, I decided to take this time and write a little of my observations. I took a walk tonight down Khoasan road and really looked at what and who was out and about. Some of the same 20 somethings appeared to be in their last night state of being..pre-drunk or still drunk. I listened the conversations and much like my observations last year the conversation appeared to ramble down to telling each other how much fun they were having and how great each of them were. This was primarily the farang.. it didn't matter too much what country they were from but I wondered what their heads would be like in the am. There were also a group that just appeared to be wondering up and down and back and forth. Interestingly, in the afternoon, I met the French woman in my blog last year. While we had somewhat of a communication issue, she understood that I had taken her photo last year. We were at a different bar, but she was still there. I then looked at the hilltribe folks that appeared to wander up and down croaking the frog and waiting for folks to give in or ask a question. They had some real sales experience and appeared to be able to know when someone was weakening or find a group of folk who had partied and had just arrive in BKK. They would stop and look and then one would buy and they other. Last night we sat and had our beer and watched a woman sit in the middle of the street with a baby and a cup. Interestingly, she was not a young person and I had wondered if it were her child. There appeared to be a few other children running back and forth to a booth selling buy and sell. Tonight, the woman who had been in the booth was not on the street with the cup and the older woman was selling. Also there were two children group playing instruments. One was a young boy who played a kind of percussion and the to there were three girls who played a similar instrument but also chimes and triagles. They were very cute in a school girl manner and when folks stopped, they also took their pictures and the girls smiled sweetly and a coin or two was tossed. There is some lesson here but it reminded me of when I was young and going out to the bars. I had a friend that was extremely attractive. When I went out alone, few came over to chat, but when I went out with her, folks came over and then started to talk to both of us. The morale of this story if you want to get a coin in your cup go with cute girls. While I watched their cup was filling and the boy.. not a coin. There was the usual come in here and have a massage and tonight there was a price war and each was dropping the price by a baht as the night went on. The folks selling and on the street appear to go about this routine in the same manner night after night. The women with the chicken puppets that tried to sell airplanes last year was still there.. except she had given up on the airplane and would have done better if she had a young girl helping her. Who on the road of merry forgetting wants to buy a funny looking chicken on strings... boom boom and the beat goes on. Well not all beats. It would be impossible for me not to mention that Cheryl's father passed sometime during our day so the rest of the trip remains in question as I type. Khoasan maybe the same same but we are different.

If you remember, tell Cheryl, Michael says bring back green tea from Vietnam. He said the tea looks like little round dried buds & says Taiwan Tea even though if is from Vietnam. Have lots of fun, take lots of pictures & I'm looking forward to reading more!
