It is 7:30 in the am...whatever strength my deodorant was, it is gone since to use the computer I must sit in a room that is very hot and without a fan. As I walked up thru the dirt streets with the trash and garbage by the side of the street this country is not same same but it is different. Last night the hotel sent us to a "french restaurant"which turned out to be a Belgium ice cream parlor with food. We did eat across the street in a place just short of a 39 Casablanca set. The food was good and I even had chicken and a salad. Actually the salad was a bonus to the warm goat cheese on toasted Baguette. We came the shortest way home which involved going around precarious construction site. I knew we could do it, but I think it was not as comfortable for the travellers. Page did get to the dr yesterday. She is a trooper. I have told her many times that going home is an option but she like myself are in great anticipation for our time in Vietnam. The dr said she hand conjunctivitis and this morning she has two conjunctivitis eyes but insists that she will venture on. She looks very bad but we can get other medicine in VN since that is where the dr studied. Her trip to the dr was another tuk adventure ending in a little house with a tiny office for the practice.
I don't have the energy for pictures today. The economy is so bad here that the atm's give am $ and like before, no one has exchanged money. The change you get as in $.25 back will be several hundred rial. They live on nothing so it is easy to just leave your bills if you don't want them. I have not mentioned this but I have a spasm in my left harm at my elbow. When I bring my arm to my head, I have little control over where it goes. I am sure it is a nerve and temporary. But it is a bother with the camera etc. I will feel a great relief today when we leave for VN. It is hard not to feel responsible. In my planning, I think there was very little I would change except to remind myself and others to go with the flow and remember we are travelling student/tourist class. I am sure there are many routes that would keep you off the back alley and dirt, but it is part of the bonny way and if you want to come with me... read the blog and be prepared for some adventure. I am still planning to hike in the mtns although I don't see how Page will come... We will eat much cheaper. We have adjusted the room arrangements, not splitting 3 ways and eaten in middle rung restaurants so the trip has cost a little more than my budget, but we will make up for it in VN....and you only live once. It is time for breakfast so I will leave you now and try to get some time on when we arrive on the next leg of the trip. I am sure Page and I will do well and I will remember not to engage in friend abuse.

Hope all is well in VN. Looks like JoAnn and I are in Bangkok for the duration. There was absolutely no one from United in the airport when we arrived. We're at our hotel, very nice, very quiet. Probably won't do too much tonite - may go to the floating market tomorrow.
